Two-Part Seminar Comes To Denver, June 21st IBM, Daman Consulting, Level 3 Participate In Business Intelligence Event The overall theme of the event is harnessing the most value out of your information assets and business intelligence architecture, particularly during an economic slowdown. A wide variety of content will be featured, including: a morning session on OnLine Analytical Processing (OLAP); and afternoon session on "operationalizing" your business intelligence; plus special Guru Sessions all day long. The Guru Sessions entail one-on-one meetings with specialists these were pioneered by Daman's VP of Business Intelligence, Michael Haisten, at TDWI, and have been very successful ever since. Entitled 'OLAP & A Show', the morning seminar will offer insights on how to create effective On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP) solutions for any industry. Though OLAP isn't novel technology, new tools and techniques are being used today for the creation of truly effective solutions. This is particularly important during today's economy, as it's much more critical to get a handle on expenses and know where profits are coming from. "OLAP & A Show" will feature instruction by Norman Comstock, Daman's Director of OLAP solutions. An IBM case study will be presented as well. The afternoon seminar will focus on one of the most cutting-edge trends in business intelligence today: zero latency. First coined by the GartnerGroup in 1998, the term "zero latency" refers to an enterprise which fully harnesses its information assets in real-time to effect positive change. Rob Bosch, Daman's VP for Enterprise Integration and a three-time CIO, will talk about ways in which companies can maximize the efficiency of their information architecture, helping them move closer to the coveted zero-latency status. Nancy Osborn, a Senior Architect with Level 3, will offer a case study. Following that case study, a workshop will be held in which Bosch will lead the audience through a step-by-step process of true enterprise integration. Ideally, the audience will present challenges and other situations they are encountering with Bosch offering advice on how to overcome those hurdles. For anyone who wishes to stay after the two-part seminar, a happy hour will be held next door at Garcia's Restaurant. Rudy Milkovic, Alliances Director for Daman Consulting, explains the impetus for the BIX series: "True progress often comes through collaboration," he says. "By working with our partners and other key players in the field, we aim to help further the exchange of ideas and information in the BI industry."
