SIZE="1" FACE="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica">Daman Consulting, a pioneer in the Business Intelligence industry, today announced the second in a series of BI seminars entitled BIX, for Business Intelligence eXchange. The free seminar will be held in Houston on this Friday, May 18th at the Microsoft Conference Facility, and is sponsored by Daman, Microsoft and ProClarity.</FONT></p>
<P><FONT SIZE="1" FACE="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica">Entitled "OLAP & A Show", the seminar will offer insights on how to create effective On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP) solutions for any industry. Though OLAP isn't novel technology, new tools and techniques are being used today for the creation of truly effective solutions. This is particularly important during an economic slowdown, when it becomes much more critical to get a handle on expenses and know where profits are coming from. Very briefly, OLAP can assist enterprises in many ways, including: </FONT></P>
<ul>
<li type="disc"><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica">Streamlining operations by discerning where resources are overused or underutilized;</font>
<li type="disc"><font face="Verdana,Helvetica,Arial" size="1">Increasing profitability by determining which products or services produce the greatest amount of profit and which are the most costly;</font>
<li type="disc"><font face="Verdana,Helvetica,Arial" size="1">Determining the level of success achieved by advertising or marketing campaigns;</font>
<li type="disc"><font face="Verdana,Helvetica,Arial" size="1">Detecting fraud anywhere in the enterprise, whether internally or externally.</font>

<P><font face="Verdana,Helvetica,Arial" size="1">Participating in the seminar will be: Norman Comstock, OLAP Solutions Director for Daman Consulting; and Shelly Crawford of ProClarity. The program will start at 9 a.m. and run through 1 p.m. at the Microsoft Conference Facility in Houston.</font></P>
<P><font face="Verdana,Helvetica,Arial" size="1">The seminar will present OLAP solutions in the context of a show. Comstock says, "An effective OLAP solution must be not only useful, but also engaging, like a good show. The design and functionality must be such that the end user wants to go back and use it again and again, the same way you would want to see a good show more than once."</font></P>
<p><font face="Verdana,Helvetica,Arial" size="1">The program is therefore broken down into show-like component parts: Comstock will discuss the analysis services cast: ROLAP, MOLAP and HOLAP; ProClarity will focus on the design studio, demonstrating techniques for presenting data with higher impact; and Comstock will then take on the role of producer/director, discussing how successful planning and direction leads to better presentation. Admission is free for the four-hour seminar.</font></p>
