Reunion Of Co-Authors Kicks Off BI Vision: 2001

Hosted By Daman Consulting, Conference Features Compaq, Informatica, Microsoft

SAN FRANCISCO, CA—April 11, 2001— Half a decade ago, they co-wrote "Building The Operational Data Store", a seminal work that is still described as "the definitive source" for information on operational data stores. On Tuesday, May 8th, Dr. Claudia Imhoff and Greg Battas will share the spotlight once again, this time as keynote speakers for Daman Consulting's BI Vision: 2001 conference in San Francisco.

Battas serves as a Principal Member of Compaq's Technical Staff. His talk will center on Compaq's Zero Latency Enterprise (ZLE) solution, an architectural framework that addresses the real-time needs of the Internet business model by combining enterprise application integration (EAI) technology with a real-time Operational Data Store (ODS). Battas will explain how Compaq ZLE creates a real-time solution that addresses businesses' two most critical needs in the Internet age: the ability to see, know and react to customer needs in real time; and the certainty that they can continue to do so 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Imhoff will speak on the heels of her latest book release, "Building The Customer-Centric Enterprise". Her keynote will focus on the fundamental principles of modern Customer Relationship Management. Dr. Imhoff founded Intelligent Solutions, Inc., a Business Intelligence and CRM consulting and education firm, in 1992. Intelligent Solutions is uniquely positioned to help organizations assess, design, implement, and leverage their e-business, CRM, and business intelligence applications. "I am so pleased to link up with my friend and co-author, Greg Battas, again. I am sure that the seminar will be not only informative and interesting, but entertaining as well."

"Claudia and Greg have progressed along different paths since their joint work on the Operational Data Store concept," notes Michael Haisten, Daman's VP for Business Intelligence. "Greg's work on the Compaq ZLE initiative addresses the requirements of the Internet business model by allowing a business to truly leverage the power of real-time information. ZLE moves us beyond the static concepts of traditional business intelligence. Claudia continues to focus on the business impact of BI architectures with her timely insights on the advances in proactive customer engagement. At Daman, we believe real-time architectures are essential to the success of CRM. We are thrilled to have these two luminaries serve as keynoters for BI Vision San Francisco."

The one-day conference will take place at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in downtown San Francisco from 9 a.m. till 4:30 p.m. Compaq, Informatica and Microsoft are sponsoring the event, along with First Logic, Harmony and Knosys ProClarity. Brio and Synera are also participating in BI Vision San Francisco.

In addition to the two keynotes, the conference will feature a technology showcase and twelve breakout sessions along four tracks: technology, management, methods and case studies. Daman, Compaq, Informatica, Microsoft and cutting-edge business intelligence firms will lead the breakout sessions.

BI Vision: 2001 is just one of nine events planned by Daman for this year. The Austin-based consulting firm will hold three full conferences, of which San Francisco is the first; along with six Business Intelligence Exchange (BIX) seminars, the first of which took place April 2nd in Austin and was entitled, "OLAP & A Show". Daman's events are slated for locations spanning the continental United States.

Daman's President and CEO, Gita Lal, explains the impetus behind the conference/seminar series: "The Business Intelligence industry already has a number of solid conferences in which we've participated for many years. The reason we decided to launch BI Vision and the BIX series was to address some very specific issues developing right now, not the least of which is Compaq's ZLE initiative. We're hoping to raise the discussion level on that type of enterprise-wide integration; what we're calling advanced business intelligence."

For more information, or to register, turn your web browser to http://www.damanconsulting.com/bivision. Cost for the one-day conference is $395 for those who register before April 24th; otherwise, it's $495.
